The Rose and the Cross
I have been asked numerous times if I am a mason and/or a Rosicrucian because of my perception and the truth is that even though I am not a member of any secret organization, I strongly resonate with the Rosicrucian teachings such as the teachings of Manly Palmer Hall whom I consider one of the greatest occult masters of all times as well as the Rosicrucian manifestos.
I do not know if I need to be initiated into a particular Rosicrucian order to have the right to proclaim myself as a Rosicrucian but I have met many people who are claiming to be initiated into the Rosicrucian mysteries who, at least in my opinion, have much less understanding than myself regarding the esoteric teachings and mysteries of the Rose and the Cross. And so, I have decided to take this step and proclaim myself as a Rosicrucian because I do not really resonate with any other world view and lets just say that I am a fan and a ‘wannabe’ and not something ‘special’ even though I am not really interested in becoming a member of any secret organization and have to hide in the darkness.
In this article I will say some words about the Rose who is Helen and about him who is the Cross and I will begin with him because I have a strong feeling that I know him as well as I know myself. I know that he who is the cross is an expression of the Ego of God and this is also what Gematria suggest: HE IS THE CROSS = 888 = HE IS THE EGO OF GOD. JESUS = 444 = CROSS = EGO OF GOD = THE KING.
But who is he and who is the cross and whose number is the 888? Is he just one person who came to Earth or who is supposed to come? Or is this a pattern for specific types of initiates? I do not really know this answer but I know some things regarding this issue that you may not be able to find elsewhere and I will share my ideas with you based upon what I know.
First of all let me re-explain the Gematria by quoting what Helen my coworker and I have said in the past so that we can develop a way to communicate in case you are unfamiliar with our work.
For those of you not familiar with the Gematria, it is a system that was given to the Babylonians by the gods and this system assigns numerical value to a word or phrase in the belief that words or phrases with identical numerical values are connected and share the same meaning and energy. Numbers are a language and it is believed is a language of the gods. This system was and is used by the initiates of the mysteries schools to discover the hidden meaning of the names of the gods as well as write in result numbers as a code which only other initiates could understand. It is a language that we use very often in our articles and channeling’s on Esophoria and it is a system we use regularly to decode certain works given to us by the gods. So below I will show you an example so that you understand how to read the word, number and its corresponding words and also understand why the 888 is so sacred and offers such protection and wisdom.
The Gematria is an Assyro-Babylonian numerical system that was handed down by the gods to the initiates of the mystery schools as a way for the cosmic forces which rule the universe and the inner dimensions to communicate with humanity and the ancient initiates of the mysteries of the gods such as the Pythagoreans knew this reality very well. The Gematria results are based on the emanations of the Tree of Life which the Anunnaki have planted on earth. This article and almost all of my previous articles can help you to understand the significance and the importance of the Gematria regarding the divine plan of the gods for humanity.
As we know from the Christian mystics the number of Jesus is 888 and it is based on the calculation of the name of Jesus in the Greek Gematria and so you can choose to assume if the following is just a coincidence or not:
WHO IS JESUS = 888 = HE IS THE MESSIAH = HE IS THE GREAT I AM = HE IS THE EGO OF GOD = HE IS THE CROSS = HE IS THE HAND OF GOD = THE LION OF JUDAH = GOD IN MAN’S FORM = THE LOGOS OF GOD

Beyond the matter of Jesus, what I want examine in this article is the symbolism of the cross so that maybe we will understand the nature of Jesus better.
The cross is an archetype found in all cultures, mostly in a magical context, where it has power as the route to enlightenment and as a symbol of the inner solar power. In my view, the cross is where the opposite polarities and the four compass directions meet and is the point of connection between heaven and earth which is also known as THE COSMIC AXIS = 888.
As we know from the Egyptian text THE GOD OSIRIS = 888 became THE COSMIC AXIS = 888, the link between the the terrestrial and the celestial worlds and he soaked up THE LOGOS OF GOD = 888 from the waters/Abzu of the world of the gods and so he also became the Logos.
In ancient Egyptian texts it is written of the Tree of Life, “I am the plant which comes from Nu.” The Tree of Life grew out of the Sacred Mound, it’s branches reaching out and supporting the star and planet studded sky, while it’s roots reached down into the watery abyss of the Netherworld. The trunk of the Tree of Life represented the World Pillar or Axis Munde (literally “Axis of the Mound”) around which the heavens appeared to revolve. The World Pillar was the centre of the universe.
When Osiris was enclosed in the trunk of a tamarisk tree, which was later cut down and used as a pillar in the palace of the King of Byblos, he metaphorically became as one with the Tree of Life. Osiris became the Axis Munde around which the heavens appear to revolve; he became the World Pillar, the link between the terrestrial and celestial worlds. He held the heavens in his outstretched arms, and he soaked up the word of God from the waters of the Netherworld. In Ancient Egypt the Netherworld was called the “Netterworld” meaning the “World of the gods”. The gods had their home among the stars.

This of course does not mean that Jesus was the same person as Osiris but that he manifested from the same force which was already known to the ancient initiates and this is a common belief among the Gnostics. He incarnated THE COSMIC AXIS = 888 and this why HE IS THE CROSS = 888 because he represents the crossing point where Heaven and Earth and the four compass directions meet and this is why Jesus is known as the mediator and the link between man and God.
Now let’s speak about HER who is the Rose and who is Helen while the cross is manifested through the Alchemical Hieros Gamos and through the crossing of the opposite polarities and this is why the Canaanites had the Asherah Pole which represented THE COSMIC AXIS = 888 = GODDESS ISHTAR.

Matrix, as noted, refers to a mother of any species, but also to a Parent Tree; it is also the Substance out of which anything grows, and the Womb (literally or figuratively), which nurtures it. Further, the original meaning of Materia (which is derived from Matrix) is Wood (the Substance out of which grows the Tree), and by extension the Substance of any physical object, that is, Matter. Similarly, the root meaning of Greek Hylê (Matter) is Wood. Ancient etymologists connected hylê with Latin sylva (i.e., silva = wood, forest), since Greek often has an “h” where Latin has an “s” (compare Indo-European sreu– with Greek Rhea, rheô, etc., discussed above). Although modern linguists reject this connection, it illustrates the ancient association between Matter and Wood. Wood is symbolic of Living Matter.
Materia also means food and nourishment, which reminds us that the Cosmic Tree is also the Tree of Life. She draws up the Sap of Life, the Waters of the Abyss, into Her Roots, and conveys it upward to Her Crown, from which Ambrosial Dew drips down like honey to feed immortal souls. Amidst Her Roots is the Outflow (Ekroê), the Ambrosial Spring, sought by Orphic initiates. The Goddess of the Tree is the Nurse who nurtures souls from Her Ambrosial Breast. There are many myths in which Zeus (or another God) weds Hera, Persephone, or another chthonic or vegetation Goddess in the form of a Tree, and the Goddess of the Tree was worshipped under many different names in ancient Greece and around the Mediterranean. For example, Artemis was called Orthia, the Upright Goddess, when She was worshipped as a Tree or Pillar representing the Cosmic Axis.
Although it is not well-known, Helenê (that is, the Helen of the Trojan War, Queen of Sparta) is also a Tree Goddess; She had temples at Sparta and many other places. In particular, at Sparta there was a Holy Plane Tree sacred to Her, which was garlanded and anointed with oil. She was represented also as a Pillar Goddess (rather like the Caryatid Maidens on the Acropolis) and was worshipped as “Helen of the Tree” (Dendritis) at Rhodes. Helen was born of Zeus and Leda (that is, the Goddess Lada, “the Lady”), Herself a daughter of Oceanus (on whom, see below), as told in the myth “Leda and the Swan.” (The Swan is the bird of Apollo, who is hardly distinguishable from Zeus in this context; see “Gods”.) She emerged from a blue Egg, which may represent the Celestial Sphere, or Heaven and Earth before they were separated.
Her brothers are the Twin Dioskouroi (the “Lads of Zeus”: Dios Kouroi), Castor and Pollux. According to different accounts, They were born either from the same Egg as Helen, or from a different Egg born by Leda. They wore caps shaped like half-eggshells representing the Celestial Hemispheres (or Heaven and Earth), since Their stars are never above the horizon at the same time. The Twins are the Faithful Servants of the Great Goddess, the Mother of the Gods, whether She is called Rhea, Kybele, or another name. For example, the Dioskouroi rescued the adolescent Helen after Theseus abducted Her when She was a dancer in the Spartan temple of Artemis Orthia (who is hardly distinguishable from Helen). They are often shown standing on either side of a Goddess, such as Helen, Isis, Artemis, Astarte, Aphrodite, Hekate, Kybele or Demeter; often She is a Lunar Goddess. Often also She is a Goddess of fertility and material generation (corresponding to the third of Dumézil’s three functions; Kronos and Zeus correspond to the first two).
Castor was mortal but Pollux is immortal. Therefore, Helen’s connection with Castor and Pollux may be compared with Isis’ relation to the Body and Soul of Osiris. If Helen shared the Egg with the Dioskouroi, then that would compare with Isis and Osiris sharing the Womb of the Mother Goddess Nut. Osiris was killed when he was trapped in a casket around which a tamarisk tree grew; Castor was killed while he was hiding in an Oak Tree (or perhaps each brother was in a tree). Immortal Pollux was so grieved by His brother’s death that He petitioned Zeus that the Twins might share mortality and immortality through a cyclic death and rebirth, as Osiris is cyclically torn apart and rejuvenated by Isis.
Simon the Mage, the Gnostic holy man slandered in the Bible (Acts 8.9-24), adopted as his Soror Mystica (Mystic Sister) a courtesan named Helen, whom he believed to be a reincarnation of Helen of Troy. Therefore he called her the All-Mother, Being, and Wisdom; and he called himself Great Power of Zeus. Eventually his disciples raised statues to them, in which they were represented with the attributes of Zeus and Athena (as Goddess of Wisdom). Although Simon’s claims might seem the height of hubris, they nevertheless illustrate his knowledge of the Craftsman and His Mystic Sister.

So who is Helen and what does she represent? Why do the Rosicrucian poets such as William Butler Yeats and Oscar Wilde speak about the Rose of the world when they speak about HER?

Is this a blasphemy to ask the Archangels to bow down to a woman named Helen or is there a greater mystery regarding this symbolism and the essence of Helen?
HERE is an interesting study regarding the perception of William Butler Yeats concerning the mystery and the essence of Helen who is perceived as the Sophia of the Gnostics and as the Rose of the Rosicrucians who follow a number of the Gnostic teachings.
In Gnostic tradition, Sophia is a feminine figure, analogous to the human soul but also simultaneously one of the feminine aspects of God. Gnostics held that she was the syzygy of Jesus Christ (i.e. the Bride of Christ), and Holy Spirit of the Trinity.
According to the Gnostic perception the essense of Sophia who is Helen is the Holy Spirit and so someone could say that the follwing is a coincidence or not:

THE ESSENSE OF HELEN = 1104 = THE HOLY SPIRIT
The beautiful Helen of Troy is the same Helen in Goethe’s Faust, the Shakti or feminine potential of the internal Being… She and he, Buddhi-Manas, are the twin souls within ourselves (even when the intellectual animal still does not have them incarnated); they are the two beloved children of Atman (the Innermost); they are the eternal bride and groom who are always in love… Such love has infinite correlations with the conjugated pair of the double suns of heaven, and with the Earth and the Moon, or with the protoplasmic “amphiaster” of the determinant cells (as it is known in the mysterious phenomena of karyokinesis or morphological nuclear division of a single cell), also in the universal symbolism of the Épopées and of all literary works where the ideal love between two beings of opposite sexes constitute the “Alma Mater.” -Samael Aun Weor
In the following poem Oscar Wilde speaks about the ‘New Helen’ who is a red “Rose of Fire!”:

And treacherous Aphrodite’s mocking eyes?

The Rose is a symbol of the ancient Holy Queen of Heaven, the Goddess Inanna. In the following picture you can see Goddess Inanna’s symbol, the eight-pointed star or rosette, appearing between the pincers of two scorpions on the square face of this stamp seal:
The rose was used in ancient Rome to symbolize devotion to the goddess Venus which was the Roman version of the Goddess Aphrodite/Inanna/Ishtar. Following the Christianization of Rome under the emperor Constantine, the Rose became identified with the Virgin Mary.
In mythology, rose meaning is associated with Aphrodite (Greek) goddess of love who was often depicted adorned with roses around her head, feet and or neck. In lore, we track down this association when we discover that a rose bush grew within the pool of blood spilled from Aphrodite’s slain lover (Adonis). We can interpret the symbolism here several ways. The most common interpretation is that the rose symbolizes an immortal love or a union that will never fade – even through time or death.
Similarly in Christian lore, a rose bush was said to have grown at the site of Christ’s death. His blood serving is often associated with a red rose, combined with its thorns is thus symbolized the ultimate sacrifice.
In addition to being a symbol of love, the rose is also symbolic carrier of secrets or tacit understanding. The term “sub rosa” means under the rose and comes from the practice of Romans hanging roses above meeting tables. Here it was understood that anything said at this table, beneath the hanging roses, was forbidden to be repeated elsewhere.

The Christianization of the Rosalia Festival in ancient Rome can help us to better understand how the tradition of the dying and ressurected god Adonis/Tammuz and of Aphrodite/Inanna have survived under the symbolism of the Rose (sub rosa).

The rose has held a deeply symbolic significance in many times and cultures as a symbol of maternal creativity and of the yoni or feminine generative power. The literal rose and its essence or attar has also played a role in religious and spiritual rites which ofttimes would have been held in secret.
The rose has sometimes been said to have been the emblem of the god Horus in ancient Egypt. However the gods in Egypt were usually associated with the lotus. The idea of Horus being linked to the rose probably arises from Greek and Roman cultural cross-transmission of myths from Egypt. In Christian symbolism, the phrase “sub rosa” has a special place in confessions. Pictures of five-petalled roses were often carved on confessionals, indicating that the conversations would remain secret. The phrase has also been understood to make reference to the mysterious virginal conception of Christ.
The rose is also an esoteric symbol of Rosicrucianism which was often considered to be a secret society or brotherhood.
And so SHE is the Rose and HE IS THE CROSS = 888 because they have crossed the polarities and they are ONE and this alchemical marriage signifies the completition of THE GREAT WORK = 906 which is symbolized with the ROSY CROSS = 906 which is THE CROSS OF LIGHT = 1104 = CROSS OF THE LIGHT = THE GOD AND THE GODDESS = THE ROSY CROSS.
Note also that:
888 = CROSS OF INANNA
888 = GODDESS ISHTAR
888 = THE ROSE OF THE CROSS
888 = SEAL OF THE ROSE
And our number is 888
And my beloved’s number is 564!
And he is my son! And he is my father! And he is my consort!
And my number is 858!
